When to pump .

Okay so I'm new at breastfeeding . My baby is 4weeks old and I'll be going back to work soon , so I really need start to pumping but I have no idea when and how to start . So please help 👏🏽

Howb much longer until you go back to work? It's best to start about 2wks before. Start with pumping in the morning while baby is still sleeping. Then add in a pumping at night while baby is sleeping. From there ,if baby only nurses off one boob, pump the other while baby nurses. When baby naps pump. Once you go back to work,pump on schedule with nursing so every 2-3hrs. Use the 1-1.5oz/hr as a minimum for what baby will need when away from you. So if away from you for 10hrs, baby will need 10-15oz.

Feed baby, then pump immediately after. If you're nursing on one side, pump the other and save the milk you pump, but if baby eats from both breasts, then pump for 10 minutes, both sides after baby is finished. You need to pump at least as many times as baby feeds, 8 times a day is ideal in your first 12 weeks though.
