Baby carrier or wrap?

I'm looking to get either a baby carrier or baby wrap to use while I'm doing housework or for trips where having a pram is inconvenient. Does anyone have any experience with or know of pros/cons for either?

In the UK there are sling libraries where you can try some out and see which is best for you and baby.

I'm using a wrap. Carriers don't offer any support to baby's hips and can actually cause damage, especially when used facing forward.

The best advice I can give you is to try to go to a store that allows you to try them on. Or see if there's a Babywearing International (I think that's the name?) group in your area because they usually have meetings where you can try out different ones and even rent them sometimes to get a more long-term feel for how you like them. I went with a Baby K'tan for while my little guy is still an infant because it's kind of a cross-over between a wrap and baby carrier. I'm a first time mom so I have no long-term advice though other than to just try on until you find something that you think is manageable and comfy for you!

I've had an ergo and it wasn't comfortable at all and baby didn't like it. He felt smothered and never wanted to be contained. The wrap seems lighter but also seems flimsy? And like, who has the time with two small kids to wrap yourself up in a ball like that?! Ugh watch j won't get either.. 😞

We got a K'Tan for when baby is small and we'll use a carrier when he's bigger. I only survived with my first two thanks to the Baby Bjorn.

But beware of crotch danglers. As long as their knees are above their bums. I had a Solly Wrap with my first as well as a WILDBIRD when he got over 25 lbs. I just got a new Solly Wrap at my shower for my baby girl and can't wait to wrap her. They are actual life savers!!! The perk with the Solly is it has a little pocket at the end to fold itself into for easy storage as well as keeping your keys, pacifier etc in.

I have a Beco ring sling for when baby is small. I agree seeing if there is a babywearing group near by where you can try on carriers before you get one. There are so many awesome brands out there, but they all differ on how they work for your height, weight, back. I found a babywearing Facebook group in my community that gets together and will let you try on wraps and carriers. Good Luck.
