Cats and babies
I need some advice. I live in a small apartment with just one bedroom. My two cats have always had access to it, and both often sleep on our bed. I can't have a separate nursery, so the crib is right next to our bed.
About a month ago, I started closing our bedroom door overnight so the cats could adjust to staying out. It has been pretty exhausting because they keep trying to break in. They sometimes spend well over an hour meowing and scratching the door. I'm scared that they'll keep waking the baby when she arrives. Needless to say, it's pretty annoying, yet I feel sorry for them at the same time.
How do I stop them from scratching the door?
And please refrain from telling me to get rid of them because it's not an option.
