Not painful??

Question

My midwife just stripped my membranes it did not hurt it was weird and she made me bleed does this mean she did a good job??? And I'm a FTM are you supposed to get to 100% effacement or 0%?? What did you ladies do to help the process after a membrane strip? Need help.

OK well I was 3 cm and 80% effaced and have already been experiencing contractions just not consistent and I've lost my mucus plug I was just wondering what I could do to help the process thanks ladies.

I bled a little as well. Afterward I went for a walk and then I went to work a few hours later. Started getting contractions after I got home and had the baby that morning. I was only a centimeter dialated when she did it and over 80 percent efaced and the baby was already sitting really low. There's a 50 percent chance it'll put you in labor. Good luck!

You don't do anything. You just wait to see if it works. I guess you could go walking a lot. It took two times for it to break my water by stripping the membranes for me with my last two pregnancies. If the first time doesn't work, ask again next week and yes spotting is normal after having it done.
