Can you go from no labor symptoms to active labor?

Question

Grasping at straws here as a FTM trying to avoid an induction due to medical reasons.. Can you go into labor after having no typical symptoms whatsoever?

Yes! I went last Tuesday for my weekly. Schedule for induction today, but my LO had other plans. I was not dilated or effaced when I left the doctor but I went to bed that night and woke up Wednesday 5/18 in full blown back labor. Contractions were under 5 minutes all day but took 12 hours to go from 1cm to 6cm by 3pm they gave me my epidural and shortly after broke my water. Things moved so much faster! But by midnight I called it and went for a csection due to him being sunny side up and he just wasn't gonna fit.... Good Luck!

Yes! I was checked on 5-5 at 5pm at my ob and was not dilated at all. In fact baby was still high. No symptoms either. Never lost my mucous plug. My water broke on 5-7 at 115 am at home.

I was totally symptom free when I started having painful contractions every 3 minutes out of the blue at 11pm, and had my daughter the next day. So it's definitely possible. I didn't think I was close to labor, with no symptoms, until BAM, it hit me haha

Anything can happen!! You can go from 0cm thick to 100% effaced & in active labor in a matter of hours. Induction wouldn't be my first choice either but don't feel discouraged if you end up having to go that route. Crossing my fingers for you. Best of luck!!

I did with my first. Had absolutely no symptoms until I went into labor and had her 5 hours later.

I went from a closed cervix that day to waking up with my bloody show 8 hours later. So we will see! That gives me hope.

I sure hope so!! My first was so by the books. I even went into labor on my due date. Now I have no symptoms of baby coming. They all stopped.
