Giving birth alone?

Question

Anyone give birth with no doula or the babies father?  How was it? Did you feel like you could do it?..I'm just thinking I'm single now gonna go into labor alone,  &idk what to expect it'll be waterbirth..natural no pain meds or anything. I'm just telling myself i can do it no matter what.

thinking about doin mine alone as well the only person i would want there is deceased so I dont really have a choice and i would be uncomfortable with anyone else

I did it with my first one... I was hospitalized and my baby's heart rate started dropping. The father was no where to be found and his mother was out of state so I had an emergency c-section alone.. It was hard but I got thru it. Good luck to you and your baby!

You can do this Hun. I didn't have a doula, or baby daddy with my first. My mom was there but she wasn't really coaching me. Do as much research about natural birth as you can. And just remember, you CAN do this. But if you need meds to feel better, that's ok too. Focus on what's coming. Single moms have an advantage. They don't have to share their baby with anyone. That can be such a blessing. It's hard, but totally worth it

I'm in a long distance relationship due to jobs. I had a doula last time, will do it again. They are reasonably priced and are worth the support.

I understand your sentiment. We're having an all natural water birth at home. It's going to be very intimate, just me, my husband and my midwife.

I like the idea of privacy and intimate surroundings however I wouldn't give birth without a trained professional in the room, too many things can go wrong.

(and I definitely want my precious husband of over 8 years there! ☺)

I did but it wasn't my choice. I was already in the hospital on bedrest for my incompetent cervix, and my baby spontaneously came one early morning and i was ready to push already and no one called my boyfiend who was only 10 min away and my parents were an hour away so I was all by myself, but a nurse held my hand, and talked me through it and so did the person who delivered my baby, and it was okay. I much would've rather had people there and I'm still upset that they missed it. I feel awful like its my fault.

You got this Hun! I think you can do it with or without support. Your mommy instincts will help with all the support you need the most important thing is loving that baby and doing what you can to push for him or her. That can be your support and motivation you need. 😉 However, if you want someone to be there is there a parent, friend or even co-worker you could ask?
