What's best for nausea when pregnant?

For a friend- she's been having really bad morning sickness and wanted to know what she could take to help it. The doctor gave her a prescription for something but she said she heard it can cause cleft palate so wanted to try something else.

What did you do for nausea during pregnancy?

I am guessing the prescription is for Zofran. There are actually no medically recognized studies that state zofran causes any birth defects (including cleft palette). I had Hyperemesis during my pregnancy and was scared of zofran because I had heard the same studies.. Finally my doctor put it into prospective by telling me that it really wouldn't matter if I died from meal-nutrition... If she has regular morning sickness: lemons, sea bands, crackers, ginger, peppermint

If she has severe morning sickness or Hyperemesis: zofran, reglan, phenagran (all meds), IVs for dehydration and/or TPN for nutrients.

Saltines, water, and sea bands have been my biggest help. I've also learned to eat a little bit every couple of hours to keep myself full. I feel most neasous when I start to get hungry.
