Group B Strep Test Positive?

Question

Anyone else test positive for the group b strep? I did and I didn't even know it existed until last week. Is it something to worry about? Midwife says I will just get iv antibiotics during labor. Just wondering if anyone else tested positive or if you've been through a labor with the iv antibiotics?

Everyone has it in their stomach it's really just a matter of do you have it in places that it can effect baby. It's not a big deal at all and 1 in 3 women test positive. All it really means is if your water breaks you need to go in to the hospital immediately so you can start the antibiotics. No big deal. no worries mamma 💕

I tested positive in my first pregnancy, received the IV with no issues.  Really wasn't a problem at all.  This time around I was negative.  It's an odd thing.  Lol!   But really shouldn't be an issue aside from receiving the IV.  I've read a lot of posts about the meds burning etc. and this was definitely not my experience at all.  This is probably the thing to put the least amount of thought into! You'll be fine!   :)

I tested positive also. I was negative with my first and positive with this one. I never knew what it was till he said I was positive... I am already 4cm dilated as of his past Monday, doc says get to the hospital fast if you go into labor so they can start the iv. But because my baby is measuring big and I am very petite I am to be induced on Tuesday!

I'm positive too. Doc says it's no big deal. Will just have to suck it up and get an IV which I was hoping to avoid. My biggest complaint is that they use penicillin and it gives me a yeast infection without fail every time. Post delivery vagina with a yeast infection - not okay, not okay at all.

I'm expecting baby number three right now. I tested positive my last two pregnancies. It's nothing to worry about. I had an IV during my first labor and my second labor was rapid (I was only at the hospital for 33 min before giving birth) so I couldn't get an IV the second time although I needed one. My baby was okay though BOTH TIMES and so was I. Next week I will be tested for this pregnancy and I'm sure I will test positive again

Nothing to be worried about, it is a naturally occuring flora in many people's body and comes and goes.. you may be positive one week and negative the next.. it is up to you if you want to have IV antibiotics or not, just have a read about the pros and cons and the chances of infection being passed on to baby.. which are quite small. Antibiotics also have their drawbacks, obviously with thrush being one .. which baby can get in their mouth, and some mums on their nipples, ouch!!
