Litter box?

Is changing the litter box really bad or is that an old wives tale? What is the real risk? In my TWW and if I don't change it it doesn't get done or at least not as often as it should... Hate to nag my husband about it. Thoughts?

You also can have them tested for toxoplasmosis, it's a simple blood test. FYI it's much, much, much more likely you will get it from gardening and handling raw meat than from your kitty. But....sometimes I'm naughty and will use it as an excuse to let the hubs clean the boxes :)

During TTC not as bad but after you get preg you do need to tell you husband to buck up and take over the chore. It can cause miscarriage

I'm a pediatric nurse and yes, there is a risk of toxiplasmosis. When you change the litter box the spores are released into the air and you can breathe them in. Ask someone else todo it for you while you are pregnant- it is not worth it. Can cause miscarriage and major birth defects

Your cat needs to have toxoplasmosis and you basically need to lick your fingers after changing it to even get infected, it's easier a to get it from meat that from a cat, just wear gloves and wash your hands after and you should be fine

Yes it is. There parasite that's passed in the feces of cats that can lead to toxoplasmosis. 
​This is one thing my dr specifically mentioned when I got my BFP. He also said you should wear gloves when gardening in case a cat has used the garden soil as a littler box.
