Am I doing the right thing as a mom?

A while back my daughter and I had a conversation about sex and what not (I didn't have such an open relationship with my mother so I want to be there for my teenage daughter). Well when we had this conversation I told her that if she chooses to have sex before marriage (which I hope she does) to come to me and I'll help her prepare so she's safe- meaning bc and condoms or whatever she needed. She agreed but we both had in mind that she would be older like 18 or 19
Recently she came to me and said she wanted to have sex with her boyfriend of a little over 1 year. She's 15. She keeps trying with me but I never told her I would help her at 15. She gets upset with me because of our agreement but I think she's too young. Am I doing the right thing?

I would get her protection she's going to do it with or without your permission. Rather have a daughter who's not a virgin and taking the right steps to protect herself than one who will be making you a grandma soon.

A boyfriend of one year is an okay person to lose it with. She trusts him and I'm assuming you know him and the type of person he is. Not to mention she felt comfortable enough to come to you about it. No matter what, she is going to have sex so at this point all you can do is prepare her. I know it sucks and she is a little young, but it's almost out of your hands at this point.

She came to you now I think you need to help her like you said you would. You not helping her get protection most likely isn't gonna stop her so might as well be safe than sorry! Even if it's earlier than you would want for her, she is her own person and has reached an age where she's going to and can make her own decisions about what she does. You should help her unless you're ready to be a grandmother.

I think if you didn't specify age in your conversation you're being unfair.  Personally, I would lose trust in you if you told me one thing and then did another, especially when it's this important. If you did specify age, then you're not wrong bit you should consider the consequences otherwise.  At least she did what you asked and came to you when she was ready.  You refusing to honor your agreement isn't going to stop her from having sex.

I'd let her BUT I'd make another agreement that she gets on bc first and makes sure they use condoms! And maybe talk about a safe word for them to use if they start to feel uncomfortable or it hurts her etc. I wouldn't say you're a bad mum, but I would also say you need to give her a little freedom to explore if that makes sense. For all you know she might not like it and won't want to fuck someone again for a while. I'd say just give her the freedom for it and trust her to be safe. But deffo make sure she's on bc before she does it as 'insurance' let's say!

I was in the same situation! Even though we want them to wait it doesn't work that way ! At least she came to u so u need to follow through with ur agreement ! I had to do it and it's hard but I don't want to be a grandma before I'm 40! Lol good luck! Just keep the communication open with her so she can still trust u!
