Off birth control question

I was on birth control for about 9 years. But recently went off the pills last year. But next month marks a year I've been off birth control my SO and I have been trying for about 6-7 months,since than but almost every month have been unsuccessful, I took at least 3 cycles of clomid that didn't work, I'm starting to give up hope it'll ever happen...but my question is do you think it's longer to get pregnant being on them for that long?
