I'm 32 and I lost my whole mucus plug at once, and my daughter's head is so low that is hurts me, does this mean I'm dilating????

Ive heard that some women lose their plug way before they actually give birth but i was just ask your ob just in case ....Just out of curiosity because I want to be ready also just in case but what does the mucus plug look like and can you feel it when it comes out or does it just feel like discharge ???
