Low Platelets/Thrombocytopeina?

Low platelets? Anyone else have this? My doctors are having to draw blood each week. Apparently if they get below 120k we will have to induce sooner than expected (I already have GD, so we are inducing at 39 weeks). Apparently low platelets occur in 8% of pregnancies so I was curious if anyone else had this issue here in our group and what their doctor was saying.

I have idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura. I've had it since I was 3. It's currently in a dormant phase so I don't have to do anything for it other than just be aware that it could come back after delivery.

I had low platelets with my first and was not able to have an epidural. Now with my second they were around 124 a few weeks ago and they won't know until they take blood when I go into labor. I have not been told anything about induction though...I think it just affects epidural. Good luck!!

I have this and mine dropped again at 117 now,  but not once has my doctor told me they have to induce me nor have they said anything about me not being able to have a epidural.

Why???? Why would they induce below 120thou thats not even really low. Ive had thrombocytopenia with both of my pregnancies this pregnancy so far im down to 94 thou and no problems. The only thing the drs worry about with it is giving an epidural. If you get below a certain point definitely below 90 you cant have an epidural because of risk of bleeding and forming a clot that would compress the spine. But thats it.

I have low platelets, they have always been low and decreased throughout my pregnancy. Doctor doesn't have to induce because of this - like others say, if they are too low, you will not be able to get an epidural. Depends on the person giving the epidural - sometimes 100, sometimes 80 is the threshold.

They have no reason to induce due to low platelets. The only issue low platelets causes with pregnancy is being unable to get an epidural. It's not a reason to induce at all.

Click on this picture its my platelet counts from august 2015 to now. I even saw a hematologist and he said its totally fine.
