Husband has genital herpes

So we just found out that my husband has genital herpes. We've been together 4 years and it just appeared on him. He swears he's been faithful and that it had to have come from the last girl he was with. Either way, is anyone with a partner or does anyone have this and have a normal sex life? I'm going through getting tested now because obviously we've been having sex and it's been unprotected. I just need reassurance that I can continue to have a normal sex life with my husband.
