Must you wash newborn baby clothes before putting them on baby?

No other babies wear them before your baby if they're brand new..

It's because you don't know who has come into contact with them in the store, and they may have chemicals etc still on them from the manufacturing process

My bf didn't want to believe me that new clothes have to be washed before wearing. So I toke a basin of hand warm clean water and a bit of soap and wash one pice of the new clothes.... Then let him see the color or the water... All grey...

Most mass produced clothes will have chemicals from production & transport before it even reaches the store. I'd wash it first. 🙂

We wash everything before use.

You don't know what chemicals/dyes are left in the clothes, you don't know who's been touching and breathing on them, you don't know what they've come in contact with at the warehouses (rat shit, bug eggs, etc). Washing them is just healthier for a newborn.

It's probably for the best if you do! I got tons of clothes as gifts and to be honest didn't wash all of them before he wore them, I washed some but not all and he's never had a reaction to any of his clothes

Yes always. I worked in retail management for 10 years. The shipment comes from all over the world, sometimes we'd catch spiders and other dead bugs inside the boxes, you never know if they're carrying anything funky or laying eggs anywhere. Always always always wash before wearing.
