First doctors appointment,need advice

I've read a lot of posts about going to the doctor for blood work and pregnancy hormone levels. I called my OB/GYN and they won't see me until 8weeks. I'm sad! So I guess I'm just supposed to sit here with my thumb up my butt and worry?? It doesn't seem right especially because the first trimester is so important. Maybe I should make an appointment with my general practitioner to see if they can at least make sure everything is going smoothly, blood wise? Any advice? 😁😁😁
