TSH levels?

What has your Dr told you about your TSH? Mine was 3.6 in August. Low dose Synthroid was recommended to get it under 2.5 to prep for IVF. I was hesitant about taking meds, recalled that 2 years ago I had a TSH of 2.4. I made some diet adjustments per some info I read online (eliminating "goitrogens"), which MD said was unlikely to help, but some people just vary in their TSH so I could retest to see, and then now in November when I re-tested my TSH was 1.8. Im pretty sure the MD will tell me not to take the Synthroid now. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced such a range of TSH levels, or of anyone has other insights into this. Thanks!

I have hypothyroidism and have been on Synthroid for about 10 years now. Your TSH levels are really important throughout a healthy pregnancy, so it makes good sense to monitor them carefully.  Can't help you much in terms of levels - before I was put on Synthroid, my TSH was around 10, but with the meds, it's usually around 1-2.

Hi Nicole! I personally didn't have a hypothyroid issue until I got pregnant. My levels were within range before going through ivf. Once I became pregnant my levels skyrocketed. My Dr told me that as long as I'm ttc I need to be on synthroid to prevent miscarriage. Hope this helps!

I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I had my TSH tested many times over the years because it was always suspected I might have it. It consistently got higher and higher over the years until it recently was at 4.04, the highest it had ever been. Dr started me on 50mg of synthroid. After 60 days, I was down to about 2.5 TSH. He is having me continue on this dose. I'm guessing your dr may continue you on it to keep you at your current level.
