Back labor???

Question

How do we keep up with contractions if you are cramping in your back as well? Or do we even take back labor into consideration while timing contractions? I know it might sound dumb but I'm a FTM here. No harm in asking right? 😊

I had a lot of difficulty timing my contractions due to back labor. I would have little lulls in the action where I could breathe and walk around so I took that as a break in the action and timed again when I couldn't breathe anymore. I called the doctor once I had about 10 minutes in between lulls. The biggest problem I had was once I got to the hospital and they couldn't trace them with the monitor and tried to assume they weren't contractions. The only way they knew I was in active labor was I started vomiting from the pain, could barely speak to them and my cervix was dialating.
