What do Braxton Hicks really feel like???

Question

I met with a midwife today and she said that Braxton Hicks just feels like your stomach getting a little tighter and there's really no pain associated. Now I'm wondering if I've been having these for a while now and I just thought it was my little girl stretching in there. How are you supposed to know the difference? I thought they would hurt.

The difference for me is that your whole stomach clinches like its a giant fist and gets hard. When my LO moves, it's kicks or rolls in a particular spot or spots, and my stomach doesn't get hard.

I'm with you on this. The other day I thought I was going into labor cause of the period cramps and I guess braxton Hicks. Idk yet cause when she stretches or moves alot my whole uterus just gets tight and hurts. But I hear braxton Hicks aren't supposed to hurt lol. FTM here can you tell:) 34 weeks, so home stretch at least!

I didn't know I was having them until I contracted during my OBGYN appointment and my midwife told me I was having one. I feel no pain or cramping but get an overwhelming sensation of being tired all of a sudden. Usually when I get that feeling I touch my belly and its firmer than normal.

With me I just notice my stomach gets pretty hard it doesn't actually hurt though

The doula who taught our birthing class said when the baby feels like they are balling up, that's a BH contraction. Mine have been becoming painful the close I get to D day 😖

Sometimes I look in the mirror and see my tummy is soooo tight in the front, right up against my belly button. Then, in a matter of seconds, the hardness is gone. I thought it was my little guy moving, but I realized today I didn't feel movement when it happened while I watched. So I asked my doctor tonight and sure enough, that's a Braxton Hicks contraction. I was like, "Oh. I wouldn't have even felt or noticed that if I hadn't been looking in the mirror." She was like "yep, that's all it is." Hope this helps because I was so curious too!
