Would you put a leash on your child if they were uncontrollable?

Yes...but my situation has good reasoning. My son is autistic and for the most part pretty well behaved...but he has no understanding of danger when it comes to running into traffic or anywhere for that matter. (and he's pretty damn fast) He's come close to being hit by a car several times. When we are outside I hold on to his hand for dear life. It may look stupid using a leash, but in a situation like mine it could save his life should he decide to play chase near a busy road.

Yes and I have. My three year-old isn't afraid to run away from me not matter how many times she has been reprimanded. I'd rather look like a weirdo with my kid on a leash and have people judge the hell out of me than lose her.

My friend at age 4 was at Disneyland and holding her nanny's hand. It was super busy and they were walking through a massive crowd when a stranger grabbed her hand and ran through the crowd with her in an attempted child abduction. Thank god they located him in time and he was arrested and she was fine. But that story has always resonated in my mind. Especially since I have ADHD (as does my mom) and was always running off and disappearing in malls, streets, resorts etc.. I am going to be prepared for a daughter who may have the same behavior and won't sit still or follow rules. However my husband is so against child leashes because he thinks it's inhuman. I would much rather have my babies safe at my side than running right into the hands of a child predator or danger like a busy highway (which I also did at age 3).

I've always said I wouldn't do it, my kids are well behaved but after watching the news yesterday where this man was trying to snatch a 12yr old girl out of The Dollar Store, her mom and the kidnapper was basically in a tug of war battle, now I think it'd be a good thing to have for safety reasons. There's lots of times when my kids are staggering behind or ahead of me when we go places

i would because my son is NOT afraid to go with anybody 😳😳 if u tell him to go with u fpr whatever reason he wont hesitate ... and because he dosent like being in a stroller and sometimes he just wonders off

Depending on the child, a leash could save their life. So yeah, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Protecting the child is first priority. Personally, I don't need one, but I'd use one in a heartbeat if I had to.

I would use it as a last resort and I'm sure most parents do.. we don't really know why they use it, their child could be special needs  or something else. Atleast they are trying to keep them safe. Better have them on a leash then doing something stupid and/or dangerous.

Me and my twin sister were on leashes until we were almost three and I don't blame them. Trying to take your kids to Disney while worrying about on kid running away this way and another kid the opposite was is stressful

I think parents should make their own decision and it's not for me to judge. F they feel they need a leash then so be it. At least they are trying to keep their kids safe.

I said no, the only acceptable use for me is in the case of severe autism, where the saftey of the child is concerned. I feel like this picture is of that. That is a full grown kid, only a situation like that in a busy crowd could be deemed acceptable.
