My boss... Long ass post.
I work as a pharmacy technician.
One of my customers is transgender. She is also on Medicaid but is going to be on Medicare. Her hormone medicine which used to be free is now $1.00. She had to pay 55 cents in cash and 45 cents on a credit card because she literally couldn't afford $1. She made a comment that her stuff used to be free. (and it was). Whatever. People bitch at us no matter what the cost of their meds. We've even had people bitch because their meds were free and they thought we'd Bill them later.
Anyway, after she left, my boss went on this rant about how we, as taxpayers, shouldn't have to pay for "his choice." I just let her talk until she said "don't you agree?"
I said no. I don't. But that's my opinion. I believe that all people are entitled to medical care, regardless of their insurance/ income. She then tried to say that she *chose* to send her kid to college and no one pays for that so why should she pay for him *choosing* to transition.
I just said, we have different opinions and let it be that.
Then she snapped at me "just wait until your kid is born. You'll change your mind"
No I fucking won't. I'll still hold the same opinion about it. Just like my opinion on abortion won't change because I got pregnant. We've disagreed in the past and she's never said anything like that to me. I was offended. I'm not a 16 year old with big ideas about how the world works. I'm 34. I work for a living. I *chose* not to finish college, otherwise, I'd be her boss and I'd be able to tell her to fuck off.
I'm the last of my family to have a child. Not one of my siblings or cousins has "flipped" to the other side of the political spectrum when they had kids.
Never mind the fact that she has a degree in pharmacy and doesn't realize that trangendered people don't choose to be that way. You'd think she'd have had a biology class or two.
