What do contractions feel like ?

Everyone says "you'll KNOW when you get them" well no shit that's obvious. I'm asking because I just want to know what to expect and because I'm curious .

Your tummy will tighten and you will feel sharp pain go from the top of your tummy to your cervix. At first they might just feel uncomfortable but as they get more intense it might feel like your body is going to either rip apart or burst. Sorry it's kind of a bad explanation

My first real contractions after my water broke weren't painful. It felt like the very first period cramps when you know it's about to start. But then about 2 hours in I started having really bad back labor, it felt like someone was stabbing me in the lowest part of my spine for 30-60 seconds... I had to practically curl up in a ball or bend all the way over to round out my spine to get through the pain. The back pain is what made me get an epidural. I think I could've made it a lot further without it if it was just the abdominal cramping.

I didnt feel my contractions early labor. I could see my belly tightening but that was it. Mid labor was pressure but it didn't hurt.  I didn't make it to ending because I ended up with a emergency csection. I had placenta previa and it was unsafe to have a vaginal birth

When I first went in to early labor I only felt these small twinges. I had minor spotting that morning (4am) but didn't think much of it because I had no pain. When I called my dr he said just to time them etc. I finally went in at noon just to be checked and I was at a 4 so they kept me. I never remember feeling any pain with my contractions, however I think a lot of that had to do with them giving me my epidural too soon. (I had complications with that later). This is my 2nd so I'm also curious on what it feels like lol

Actually, some people don't feel their contractions in early labor! My friend barely felt a thing in the hospital!
