I am so thankful for my doctors and nurses that helped me get my little man here safely. I went into labor Wednesday evening after having a ton of bh all day since about 8 am. I texted my husband to come home from work around 10:30 pm. By then they were about 3 minutes apart and 1-1:30 mins long but not very strong. I was 5 days overdue and 4 cm dialated earlier that week. I didn't want to wait too long. We head to the hospital at about 11. We arrived to triage about 11:30 to find I had made no progress so they suggested we walk and come back. We did that, then got checked again and I was finally a 5! Yay! They admitted us and moved us to a delivery room. Nothing happened I was stuck at 5 cm for over 12 hours! I got an epidural to try to get some rest since they decided to start pitocin to move things along. I tried the peanut ball and bouncing on a regular ball. Finally he had started to drop and was at about a zero station. They broke my water and put in the catheter. After that I was feeling a lot of pressure in my butt like I had to push. She checked again but I was only a 7. Suddenly his heart rate dropped for about 2 mins and 60 people rushed in asking if that was baby or if the monitor was getting my heartbeat. The doctor attached an internal monitor and they were moving me around like crazy. Suddenly his heart rate dropped into the 60s. More people rushed in and they began to speak doctor stuff and suddenly the words I had feared. I was put on oxygen. They couldn't find his heartbeat and the doctors said c-section stat! And off we went. I was terrified not really sure what was happening and suddenly I was alone in a bright sterile room. They were making Jason put on scrubs as they upped my epidural and prepared everything. The checked his heart rate and honestly it was the most amazing sound ever. It had gone back up to the 120s but the doctor didn't feel comfortable waiting around to see if it would drop again. They kept giving me pain meds in the epidural but I could still feel the sharp edge when they tested me. We didn't have time to wait so they told me they were starting and if I felt it I'd get a med through my iv to make me twilight. They cut and inserted foreceps to get him out and I felt it all. They put in the iv meds as Jason entered the or. The next thing I knew I was on some sort of trip. Like I felt like I was on acid or something. And suddenly I heard him cry. I couldn't wake myself up so I was still out of it but I could hear Jason talking to me and Logan crying. Suddenly I was able to come to. I slowly started opening my eyes as they showed me our baby for the first time. Jason was telling me how big he was and trying to show me footprints they had done while they were finishing. All I could say was is he okay? What happened? As everything became more clear as I was waking I noticed my blood all over the room as they were stitching me. Then again I was alone and Jason took the baby to the nursery. I was wheeled to recovery. I wasn't really sure what had happened yet. They told me I could see the baby soon. They brought him to me and all the pain disappeared, I never thought I could love something so much. He was big. 8lbs 15oz 20.5 inches long born 6/16/16 at 5:45pm. His head was 37cm around because of his awkward positioning. It looks a little funny and is slightly bruised but he's perfect. The doctor said I probably would've ended up with a c-section anyways but maybe not until 10pm or so. Things didn't go according to plan but he's perfect and I'll take a scar for him any day!
