Who got the Mirena and has never had a child?

The reason I ask is because the Mirena is reccomended for women that have had children. I have never had children and I got it.

I asked my doctor about this when she recommended it. I was a virgin and concerned. When I asked if Skyla was a better option, she told me while it is slightly smaller, Mirena is effective for 2 years longer, which is why it's her preference.  She says it can be uncomfortable (my insertion was almost undetectable-the ultrasound after was more uncomfortable than the placement!) and she prefers not to put patients through it sooner if she doesn't have to. Otherwise, they are comparable. I haven't had any trouble with mine and have had it for 3.5 months.

I got my iud at 18 and I was a virgin at the time. My gyno recommend Jaydess (Skylah). It's effective for 3 years and is designed/approved for women who have never been pregnant. The insertion itself wasn't too uncomfortable because my Dr. injected a local anesthetic into my cervix beforehand. I had very strong cramping in the hours that followed but it subsided by evening. No regrets here, I love my iud. Get it an forget it as they say. Don't get my period anymore either 👏 I'm surprised it's not a more popular choice for all women.
