my boyfriend has decided he's going to be a marines and leaves for boot camp in 9 days. i'm soo scared, and kind've want to talk to someone who's been in this situation before or is currently..

My husband is Army. We had been together I think six months when he left for boot camp and we had no plans of getting married or anything then halfway through we both had a realization that this is what we wanted. It's obviously going to be hard but to say it's not as bad as every says it is isn't necessarily true either because it affects everyone differently. I've always had attachment issues (or abandonment but I've never been abandoned) so going from seeing him every single day and talking almost around the clock (we basically lived together), to no contact was gut wrenching to me. I learned ways to cope with it though, kept myself busy, wrote letters to him daily and set aside Sunday's for his phone calls when he was able to make them. You have to really want the relationship for it to work, otherwise there's no point in saying you guys will stay together. We'll have been together two years in September ❤️ Hope it all works out for you guys!

My husband is currently in the army stationed in Japan right now. We were together five months when he left for boot camp and just recently got married. The hardest part is boot camp, you won't get a letter for a few weeks. Honestly it's not as hard as people think, communication is key
