Numbness and cramping in hands?

I'm currently 20 weeks and 4 days pregnant and about 4 days ago when I turned 20 weeks, I started waking up multiple times per night with numbing in both hands and I couldn't grip anything for hours after I woke up in the morning. It is so painful during the night.

I asked my doctor and she said I need to drink more water, yet didn't mention anything about carpal tunnel in pregnancy that seems to be pretty common

Anyone else have this issue? This is my first pregnancy and last night I was up every hour-2 hours with pain in just my hands and wrists

Yes, this is common. I had it mid second trimester until birth. Sometimes it was hard to pick up things and was very uncomfortable. It could be carpal tunnel or just fluid in between your joints and a change in blood flow and circulation. It's uncomfortable for sure but nothing to be concerned about. Good luck!

I've just started feeling some pain in my wrists and numbness when I wake up. I think it's because I'm sleeping on my sides and I'm cutting of circulation to my hands in the middle of the night. I was a back sleeper before pregnancy.

Ive had this 2nd and 3rd trimester this pregnancy, feels like carpel tunnel so i just try tylenol and rotate between heat and ice.
