Very Bad Period Cramps

Does anyone else get extremely bad cramps before/during the first day of your period? I just got some that lasted a good 5/10 minutes while I was showering. I almost fainted and got sick. This is the first time this has ever happened to me to the point where I almost get sick and faint. Should I talk to my doctor about it?
