I was due June 13 and she made her debut on the 18th❤️.
To all my first time mommas like me:
Every pregnancy is different. It's annoying lol.
Some women start dilating when they go into labor. Others (like me) can be dilated for weeks before delivery. Some experience regular contractions weeks or days before and some (like me) don't experience ANY until the moment of.
The night I went into labor, I was just sitting on my couch watching tv & got a rough period cramp out of nowhere. Then another 5 min later. After that, they continued to come every 5 and then every 3 min and they got stronger. I started timing them with my contraction timer on my baby center app after 15 min of when it started. An hour and a half into it, I decided at the 2 hour mark, I would wake hubby up and we would head in to hospital. I went to the bathroom and wiped quite a lot of blood and decided our trip would be made right then instead. We had Sadie 12 hours later❤️
✨Some advice: Don't be a hero. Get an epidural.
To all the moms that have delivered naturally, I SALUTE YOU.
Until you get the epidural, walk. Seriously! All I wanted to do was lay in the hospital bed and hold
my breath with every contraction. But of course I had to pee every 5 min. The first time I got up to pee, i noticed the pain was much easier to deal with when walking. Eventually, I ended up standing up and continuously moving during every contraction. And also breathing through them! Make sure you breathe. Helps a lot.✨
To mommies that are still pregnant:
I read up on old wives tales that get labor going:
Eating fresh pineapple, bouncing on a workout ball, walking, raspberry tea, spicy food, sex, and nipple stimulation. I did all of these multiple times a day (yes, even sex) every single day and my baby was still late.
I've heard several women say "I ate a pineapple then went for a walk then my water broke!"
Trust me when I say this: It's just very convenient timing. It wasn't the pineapple and the nice walk.
Take my advice and don't exhaust yourself with trying to check all this off your list every day. Do yourself a favor and go ahead and mentally prepare yourself to be late. Your baby is going to come when your body ready. So just sit back, relax and let your body do it's thing.
***The only thing I've heard women try that has a very high success rate is drinking castor oil. Most women do end up going into labor when they drink that but it has some unfortunate side effects (💩). I've chosen to not try this because my thought on that is: If it's gonna cause me to have that (💩), what is it gonna do to Sadie? I don't want to risk causing her to 💩 in the womb and create high risk problems just because I'm being impatient so I've chickened out of that, but if any of y'all try it, I hope it successfully works for you!
