Healthcare, adenomyosis

Amy
For years I had problems with having difficult periods. Irregularities in length flow. Sometimes unbearable pain where I would get nauseated a cold sweat and faint. No bleeding. Horrible bleeding.
But the pain was unpredictable and mostly unbearable.
Otc pain meds like NSAIDS and aspirin did nothing for me. My OBGYN (a man) would suggest to take 800mg of ibruprophen 2x day or get the deprovera shot so that I wouldn't get a period and therefore-- no pain.
I've always ended up pregnant while on BC.
And I felt funny, moody, no help with my acne and worse if all got random permanent patches of vericose veins all over my body. The idea of the depo shot scared me. And I had began being abstinent so pregnancy was not a concern.
I acquired percs when possible every month to help deal with what was a most debilitating experience. I would call out sick to work, and be in bed all day not eating or moving waiting for the pain to pass. Moreover, NO ONE seemed to believe what I was going through. It was all in my head, I was exaggerating and it was an excuse for me to eat pills.
I had to feign having a stomach issue to get a CT scan of my abdomen. I even fluffed up my experience with percs to claim I had an addiction in order to get a suboxone Rx to use in place of buying illicit painkillers...
And  I would tell anyone else who has a similar experience and was met with the same ignorance and disregard to do the same thing.
As it turns out I've been diagnosed with adenomyosis, and an ovarian cyst.
I'm 35, and have a 4 year old daughter.
I'm looking for any insight anyone has to offer about dealing with this diagnosis.
