How many cloth diapers do I need?

I'm wanting to cloth diaper my twins. How many cloth diaper would you think I would need starting off?

I have about 30 for my first son. That lasts me about three days between laundry. However with twins I plan on washing every two days or so because of the load size. So I would say 40 or so diapers would be appropriate.

Also depending on the diapers you choose (I use gdiapers and waterproof covers with prefolds). You may need to stock up on inserts/prefolds more than covers. Usually as long as it's only pee I can air dry the cover and reuse it on the next change. Just needing a new insert/prefold.

Also once you start formula or solid foods (breast fed poop is water soluble) you will need to spray the poop before you put it in the laundry, I highly recommend a diaper sprayer!

I love cloth diapers! (I now make my own covers) and cannot wait to cloth my twins. If there is anything else you would like to know, just ask!!

We used disposables for the first 6 weeks or so, just because we were trying to get our bearings with our twinnies. We also used one size diapers which they have to be bigger before they can fit into them.

That being said, once they were big enough we used prefolds with covers. We have 36 of them and do laundry twice a week. We have 10 covers (because poop happens). Hope that helps!

I have a almost 5 month old. I do laundry every Tuesday, Thursday Sunday I have about 45 diapers which is just enough for her to last through 2 days plus another thru drying.

Our twins are 4 weeks old. We aren't cloth diapering and I'm so glad we decided not to. For the first 2 weeks, we went through a pack of diapers everyday. That's 30 diapers EVERYDAY. That's a lot of dirty cloth diapers. That's a lot of extra laundry.
