What are your views on showing dogs scary movies?

I've seen a lot of videos lately on social media of people recording their dog's reaction to scary movies and them laughing. Personally no I do not find it funny. I think it'll make them agressive towards people. Rather they just start attacking someone or someone scares them and they attack.

Just stop😂 I'm a huge animal lover but I have enough common sense to realize that dogs do not comprehend what's going on. They can't tell the difference between a ghost and a princess. So no, it's not wrong unless they are blatantly showing or doing something over and over again that actually does frighten the animal

I work and study animals. I've taken a lot of courses in animal behaviour too. And I highly doubt a scary movie would make them aggressive towards people. If the animal does get scared and starts showing fear or aggression towards what's on the screen (or to anything really) then let them be (if the animal sees nothing bad happens to them then they will ever alley become desensitized). They're more likely to become more afraid of the tv if you react and try to calm them down. I'd be surprised if the dog became aggressive to owners or others actually- but scared of the tv or other behaviour issues (like inappropriate urination and separation anxiety) wouldn't be a total surprise. Still rare, but not impossible.

BUT I most certainly do not agree with purposely scarring an animal (I've seen lots of videos where people do this to cats as well) for fun. That's just cruel. It's not funny. That poor animal doesn't need any of that. If a pet is scarred of the tv then you can desensitize them to it through various training methods but if you purposely seek out something to scare your pet then you should not have a pet.

My dog doesn't give a crap what's on TV, unless other dogs are barking then he'll bark too. But other than that he just sleeps.

We watch all kinds of stuff and my dog is in the room. He could care less what's on tv. I don't think they would tell between a Disney movie and a scary movie. If anything they are reacting to screaming and other noises.

I don't think dogs have the capacity to understand the difference between horror and comedy. They're probably just reacting to moving objects on the screen
