Opinions on genetic testing?

I have an appt. Scheduled next week for genetic tests, but I'm thinking about cancelling. Reguardless of what the results are, we would keep and love our baby. So, I kind of don't see the point in doing it now. Would like to hear stories/opinions about early screening for down syndrome and cystic fibrosis! Tia

The NT SCAN VISIT is pretty standard.. and since u get an ultrasound, u get to see ur baby finally over from embryo state to fetus. The NT scan visit is the FIRST non invasive testing for downs. They check by looking at the space and fluid in the baby's neck. 
We got it..it wouldn't make a difference either way. . However, knowing what to expect is being prepared is far better than finding out last second (in my opinion )
At the same 12 weeks NT scan visit we opted for the harmony test as well. .this is the blood /genetic testing ur talking about.  We only only did it cause we wanted to know the gender faster
 We found out we will be having a baby girl. A healthy baby girl.

We plan to get genetic testing done and the results won't matter to us. We just want to be able to prepare if something is wrong with our baby.

If it doesn't change the outcome for you, then I don't see a reason to do the tests. My husband and I opted out of all genetic testing, because I knew I didn't care, we'd love and take care of our baby no matter what. We agreed if there was something on the ultrasound that was concerning then we'd go for non invasive testing, but if everything looked fine, and she was healthy, then there would be no need. Especially since neither of us have any sort of genetic health problem on either side of our families. Our daughter is looking great and has been very healthy, so we're not concerned at all now.

It's good to do just so you can be prepared so there's no suprises. If you find out early that your baby will have special needs you can start planning and doing research rather than having to figure it all out right after they're handed to you in the hospital.

If it will not change your birthing options then I wouldn't get genetic testing done. If it changes any outcomes, then I would get it done.

We will be doing genetic testing with this baby. My husband is adopted so we have no access to his bio families medical history. It doesn't change anything with our pregnancy. We would just rather do it and know either way.

We did the testing just so that in the event something was wrong, we would have time to be more prepared to take care of him when he got here.

The outcome wouldn't have mattered to us, but especially since this is our first baby we opted for the testing so we could be prepared. I'm the type of person that likes to do their research and learn as much as they can about something, so knowing early would've given us a chance to do that and be a little better prepared.

If I were in your shoes, I think I would just so I could be prepared and have a plan set in place should your little bundle have some special medical needs. Good luck with your decision!
