When did you start baby cereal?

Question

Our daughter just turned 4 mos...she's 17.7lbs and 26" long...her pediatrician said we could start solids because she's so healthy and advanced and showing signs of wanting to eat (following us while we eat and trying to grab food).  Is 4 mos to soon? I was just curious what some of you other moms did with your youngsters...?

My son started with the organic beech nut single grain cereal and stage 1 baby food about 2 1/2 weeks before turning 4 months old. I honestly think it all depends on your little one and how ready they are to start eating. He was born at 9 pounds so I think being such a big boy put him a bit ahead of that train haha He showed signs really on that he was eager to try new things. And it only took him a day to adjust to eating instead of doing the suction motion for the food.

I started my boys at 4 months on baby rice and they love it. Obviously still give them milk thought the day as well.
The only reason HV ask you to start weaning at 6 months is to ensure that babies get enough vitamins and minerals before that time as some foods don't sustain these.
If they are still having milk then there's no reason you can't start weaning at 4 months enjoy 😊

I've never fed my babies cereal. They don't provide any real nutrition. They are basically empty calories that can fill babies up without giving them what they actually need.

I start at 6 months with avacado as a first food. It's nutrient rich and full of healthy fats to help baby grow. With my first the recommended time to start solids was 4 months. It was a months long struggle. He simply wasn't ready. He was totally interested in food. But interest isn't the same as readiness. My next 2 I started at 6 months as guidelines had changed. They took to it easily. It was a totally different experience.

My daughters pediatrician recommend that I wait til she is 5 months before introducing solids. I've tried to give her rice cereal a couple times and she just pushes it out of her mouth with her tongue.

I would do what your pediatrican says as long as you also feel ready. We started at 4 moths and my son loves it! We've done rice and he now also has had avocado. We don't necessarily do a grain each time especially since it's really just for him to learn and experience tastes and textures with most of his nutrition still coming from milk.

Our pediatrician recommend starting her on solids, very slowly though.  Our lil lady has been showing interest in our food for awhile now.  We started about 2 weeks ago and say far she has had some oatmeal and then we tried carrots.

Never on cereal because it's not good for babies but no solids should be started until 6+ months.
