Stabbing cervical pain late third trimester anyone???

Just curious. Wondering how many moms have had this. All day today I have had really bad stabbing cervical pain with contractions (but nothing regular). It literally feels like my baby is trying to "scratch" or "claw" his way out. It doesn't matter if I'm sitting, laying or standing or if he's moving or not. I didn't experience this with my first two pregnancies. I'm almost 38 weeks and already dilated 2cm and 60-70% effaced. It really hurts and don't want to go to the hospital if this is normal. Any suggestions or experiences?
