Clothes size for big babies?

My daughter is tracking to be around 8.5 - 9lb. Assuming I should prepare with 3 month size clothes for her (forget newborn!), but would appreciate insight from other mamas with bigger babies!

My nephew was born weighing 10lbs 14oz and still fit a lot of newborn so prepare with a few newborn outfits also.

My daughter was 8lb 3oz and wore newborn for almost a month. With this pregnancy I've bought more 0-3 months clothes than newborn. It really depends on the brand.

Just keep in mind they can be wrong on the size of the baby. They told me my son would be 9-10lbs so we didn't buy much newborn stuff. I think we had two onesies and the rest were 0-3 or 3 month. When he was born he was 8lbs even and my husband had to go shopping for newborn baby clothes the day he was born because none of what we bought fit him, it was all way too big!

My SIL gave birth in march with a 9lb baby and she said newborn and 0-3 because they're so tiny for 3 months clothes.

Newborn usually goes up to 8.5lbs 0-3m goes from 8.5-12.5 lbs. My little man measured 7. 7lbs at  34w so no newborn for us.

My first was 10lbs 21.5 inches he went home in a 3-6 month outfit because the 0-3 pants didn't fit! My daughter was 11lbs 1 oz 22.5 inches she went home in a 6 month pj sleeper because the 3-6 month outfit was a little snug but she did still got in some 0-3 at home just depended on what... This child will most likely be at least 12 lbs I'm packing 0-3 summer outfit and a 3-6 summer and onsie pant set depending on weather. All my kids come out wearing a size 1 diaper!!

My son was 9.9. He wore 0-3 and 3 mo, no newborn clothes or diapers. Size 1 diapers.

Agree with PPs...0-3 is the size my 9.13 and 8.10 babies wore. I actually had to go get newborn clothes for this peanut because I assumed I'd go full term and have another big baby, but she's on track to be 6lbsish at delivery. Probably buy a couple newborn items in case the estimate is wrong and in case LO loses a bit of weight (my first lost a pound)

I didn't buy many newborn clothes bc my first was 8lbs, 10oz. My guess is this one will be about that size or bigger. They do lose a little weight early on too.

My daughter is in the same situation. I'm have a few newborn outfits but focused more on 3 month clothing. I'm bringing both to the hospital just in case. Measurements can be 2 pounds +/-
