Toxic Shock
Two years ago in august I was at a friends house. I was on my period and at the time thought it was okay to use super plus tampons. I changed it as normal. (For those who blame toxic shock victims for leaving it in too long) I put one in for the night and ended up feeling like I had the flu, fever and throwing up. My friends didn't take me home until the next morning. By the time I got home I couldn't feel my face or hands. I was in a daze and my dad thought I was hung over. I went to go to the bathroom and noticed I was getting a rash all over my abdomen and arms. I called for my mom and she looked at the tampon box and told me to immediately remove my tampon (which in a daze I had forgotten I even had on) so I did and she rushed me to the emergency room. By the time we got there I don't remember a lot. They rushed me in ahead of 8 other people. I remember being on the bed and having a bunch of doctors around me calling some code (apparently it was a bad one, the " she's gonna die" one) on top of toxic shock I had an allergic reaction and got red mans syndrome from an antibiotic. I passed right out. My blood pressure dropped so low that the doctor said it couldn't have been right bc I should be dead. I spent a week in ICU unable to hardly eat or anything, throwing up bile and such. And when I got home I still could barely eat for 10 days after that. I would randomly start sobbing bc I was so traumatized. I now can no longer use tampons. Sorry for the long post. Just wondering if any one out there has been through this as well.
