So my husband and I have been together since we were 15 and we're 23 now. We have 2 kids. We only technically waned one, but my hubby's vasectomy failed (repaired itself 3 years later) so we had our second 2 months old. We definitely don't want anymore again. We're worried a vasectomy won't work again so we're thinking about going for female sterilization this time. I can't have essure because I have a terrible metal allergy so I'd have to do the actual tubal ligation, but I'm nervous about going under general anesthesia.

If you ladies were in my situation, would you do the ligation and not have to worry about it anymore? Or do a long term BC (I can't do paragard though because of the metal) and have to pay for removal and re-insertion every 5 years? We won't have insurance after the next year so it'd be up to us to pay.

Also, any experiences with tubal ligation or maybe someone to put me at ease about having the surgery?
