Did I do it wrong???

Question

So let me start by saying I have a 3 YO DS.I'm pregnant with a DD-first in DH's family out of 5 other kids. Everyone is excited. I wasn't going to do a shower b/c you know-baby #2 and my MIL's "group" refuses to do subsequent showers. No Biggie. However my best friend/boss at church said she wasn't asking if I wanted one-I was getting one as all babies get celebrated. Cool.

I created three full registries. One at Buy Buy Baby, Target and Babies R Us. Each one contains about 50-80 items- with over 90% under $25.

Things like passys, bottles, swaddlers, a couple little "stroller toys", bottle cleaner, baby shampoo and butt paste-things like that.

I felt pretty good about it until...the preacher's wife, who is on child #4 (first girl) is also having a shower. Her youngest is my DS's age. so same age difference, and both of us are going from a boy to a girl. However her other two boys are under 10. My concern is this- I looked at her registery at her two stores and there are maybe 20 things on each.

I now feel like I've WAY WAY WAY overdone it.  I was told to do a complete registry at each place so if someone shops at one and not the other they can still get something the other store would have carried. If I get dups I can return it and put the credit towards the car seat/double stroller.

Did I do wrong by doing a complete registry? Should I just take my entire list and split it between all three stores instead of trying to put everything on all three lists? I'm not trying to be greedy or have a grab all. I originally wanted a list so I know what I need to get-but since I'm having a shower it's going to be made public....

It's not wrong, but i see more often non-redundant items in different registries. You can choose to spend a little more time now pruning your selections or take the risk of dealing with many returns later when you are heavier and have other things to worry about.

I don't think you've overdone it. I have 2 registries so far and will be doing 2 more. Basically so people have options. And so my out of state family can buy online and ship straight to me. My registries besides Amazon do and will contain a list of everything I still need on each one. I wonder if maybe hers is smaller because she's on #4 and the more babies you have the easier it is to weed out what is a must have and what isn't. My daughters 5 so we had basically nothing, except clothes I had saved, for this little girl.

I see no problem. The more on there the more variety people have to choose from... if they buy from them at all! Some people just get whatever instead of checking the registry

I have only done a Babies R Us registry so far and it has maybe 20-30 items on it. This is my 4th and as I have had registries were I registered for everything I have come to realize that I didn't use most of the stuff the registry check list said I should register for. My first 2 were boys and I kept all their clothes. My 3rd was a girl and it had been 5 years since my last baby. So I really needed everything. My 4th is a boy but they are going to be born in completely different seasons so again I will need mainly clothes and a few big items. Like a playmat, I have one but it is a girl one given to me by my sister and so on. With all that said if you feel like you will use everything that you registered for then keep it as is. I might register at Target or Wal-mart too but still wouldn't be a big registry.

I have 3 registries; Walmart, target, and babies r us. I have full registries on each, well over 100 items per registry (most is small items, like bath wash, toys, pacis, ect) BUT we are also having twins. That being said, I have a 5 year old, and like you, wasn't too worried about a shower, but my best friend said we tried way too long and hard to get these babies they needed celebrated, so we are having one. I wanted to give everyone as many options as possible so they didn't feel like they had to spend a huge amount on us. You put what YOU feel you need/want for your baby on there! I feel the more there is, the better options people have!

If the same people are going to be at the showers then that's way too much. I'm having 3 showers with 3 seperate groups of people and I only have one registry with about 50 items!
