Husband got me very worried
I am 36 weeks pregnant and was at the Cape for the day on Saturday. There are alot of ticks there. When I came home I didn't notice any ticks on me she I showered. About three days later I found what I think was a deer tick just crawling on me. I squished it in panick ( I know I should have saved it but it was instinct to squish it) and noticed a little blood. I told my husband about this and he gets me completely freaked out that I have lyme disease. He thinks the tick bit me for 3 days and then released when full. He was a adamant that I call my GP to get antibiotics. I call her in the morning and don't hear back until about 6pm. I spent all day trying to research lyme disease, ticks, and pregnancy which left me very overwhelmed and confused. When I finally talked to the my GP she really wasn't sure what to do. She even asked me what I researched! I did find a Canadian article that did not recommended given preventive antibiotics in pregnant women unless symptoms are seen. I told her that and we agreed to hold off on any antibiotics. Now I just can't stop worrying I did the right thing. I now have spent all day today researching lyme disease in pregnancy and can't help but freak myself out. Everything I found ranges from baby will be fine to baby will have horrible defects and could die. I usually steer clear of taking any kind of medical advise from the Internet, but since my doctor seemed so u knowledgeable and my husband got me so concerned I didn't know what else to do. Anyways, my question is, does anyone have any experience being exposed to lyme disease during pregnancy??
