My mom wants to put me on birth control

OK so I'm 15 turning 16 in 3 days and my mom hits me with the "your dad and I were talking about getting you on birth control" even though I'm not sexually active. Mom said that I'm pretty much bi-polar when I'm on my period and that she can't stand it anymore. But I think she's just afraid that I'm going to start having sex once I'm 16. Any recommendations on what to take or get?
