Epidural?

I've been reading a ton about everything to do with labor.  The pros and cons of an epidural are a little intimidating.  Any suggestions? How do you feel about an epidural during child birth?

150% getting one. I'm not going to force myself into a long, intense, hours of labor just to "feel empowered" Or whatever. I'm really not bashing women who do it natural I swear. I just hate the ones that want to romanticize it and all that. All the people I've spoken to said natural was horrid and plan for meds the next time.
I've known for years I'm doing an epidural. I'm going to want to be able to rest so I can push and deal with baby after birth.
Yes I know, they don't always work,  blah blah. But more often than not they do and I'm going to make my labor as enjoyable for myself and husband as possible. It's supossed to be one of the best days of our lives and I'd rather not be a ball of pain the entire time

I will decline the epidural.

I plan on having a homebirth but if I do end up in the hospital I do not want an epidural. 
Our bodies were made for birth and the pit/epi combo may lead to higher c section rates.

I'm not interested in opening myself up to that.
I think it's safe, I think women have the right to chose what they want. I just don't want it. 
I've heard establishing healthy breastfeeding may be easier without the epi as well.

So, I'm not knocking it but it's not for me.

I went all natural until I needed an emergency c-section. I wouldn't have got one because my mom did with her first and still has the worst black pain. I had other reasons mostly how it effects the baby.

I'm getting the epidural. I tried to go natural with my oldest and was so delirious from the pain and exhaustion after stalling at 7cm for over 6 hours that my midwife flat out told my husband she "strongly suggested" I ask for pain relief. My second labor I got the epidural as soon as possible and I had such a better experience. I can actually remember his birth.   I've never had back problems from either epidural and neither of my kids had any side effects either. I don't personally know anyone who has.

You should watch the business of being born and more on the business of being born on Netflix. It's a great documentary and on the sequel they have 4 episodes and I believe the 3rd episode it really talks about epidural and the pitosin and how it actually makes labor harder.
