help me weigh the pros and cons?

Hello!
I just got this cool new job and I need help weighing the pros and cons:)

it's a $17 dollars an hour flat rate for showing cutlery. There's also incentive pay, but there's really no pressure to buy since the flat rate is so high!

Here's my dilemma, I can only work through recommendations or like people I know. We're supposed to show primarily homeowners who are 30 or older. I'm 19 and I don't know a lot of people like that!

So do I keep at the job because I can go until I run out of homeowners I know, or do I quit now cos it's a dead end job?

Lol and tell me if you want cutlery you'll never have to pay to replace ;)

You might as well keep it for now while you work towards finding a more sustainable job with some kind of visible career path.

You could keep it for now and do what you can while trying to find work with better long term prospects.  That said, I have one school friend who does this sort of thing (a few different products) and as a friend I really dislike it and it has put me off her.  It feels like she's using her friendships for personal gain and putting unfair emotional pressure on friends to buy from her or help her meet targets etc. I really don't like the feeling of a friend trying to sell me stuff.

Oh my god, my brother did this a few years back when he was 18. It was not really worth it. It sounds good, but there is a lot you have to put into it that they don't tell you right away. My brother did it for a month and then gave it up.

I knew someone who did this. It was a short lived dead end job. They basically just use you for exposure to your contacts. Sorry for being negative. I would continue to look for a new job.

You could keep it short term. Show it to your parents friends, make a post on an area for sale site via Facebook, talk to your friends parents, and neighbors/teachers/family. Meanwhile, got could look for a new job.

$17/hour sounds great but you need to find people to show it to...it's not a consistent source of income. A different job may not pay as well but at least you'll get consistent hours.
