When to tell students and parents
Hello! I teach 8th grade social studies at an urban charter school. I found out I was pregnant in the last month of school so a couple weeks after school was out, my husband and I were ready to make our social media announcement at 9 weeks. Before doing that, I let my principal and HR manager know as well. I am just wondering if I should mention my due date during our school open house in my welcome letter. I mean, it's going to be obvious that I'm pregnant at 18 weeks when we have our back to school day and my previous students already know due to social media so I'm sure word has spread to my upcoming students. I've read that some teachers do not really mention it that way parents don't bombard them with questions. I am planning on working up to my due date (1/20/17) as long as there aren't any issues that arise before then. Any advice?
