Is someone considered a mother before birth? Like it the baby doesn't make it do that mean she never was a mother?

Hmm... I really hope that this is not rude or anything! I can only speak for myself.. but I'd say no! Let's say you're preggo and loose the Baby...this doesn't make you a mother. Of corse it's  sad and painful but you wont experience what it means to be "responsible" and/or being loved by a little one. You wont get to experience what it means to be "needed" 24/7! 
However, I really hope that no one gets offended or else! I'm sorry if I hurt anyones feelings now but I'm just being honest about my own opinion!

I think it's up to personal preference. Some feel that the moment you find out you're pregnant you become a parent and others think it's after baby is born and you start taking care of them.

I see it as soon-to-be new mom... On mothers day I didn't feel that I should really celebrate because I was only 16 weeks pregnant with my first, but my whole family said yes you are a mother because you are already caring for the baby.

This is very tricky to answer, there should be a third option. What if you lose a child that was born stillborn? Full-term baby born sleeping? I would consider that to be a mother. Or what if you deliver a baby that was considered viable but doesn't survive and you have to have a funeral and a tiny casket or urn? They, too, would be considered mothers. But what about the individuals who have been pregnant and choose to abort? Would they be considered mothers? They didn't want to be, but by some of the other commenters she was. Loaded question in too broad of a spectrum.

I've lost my first pregnancy and I believe the answer is no.. losing a baby is very painful emotionally and yes you had a bond with your baby but you didn't yet take on the responsibilities and lifestyle change of being a mother.. you didn't have the opportunity to love a baby unconditionally and care for their every need.. I don't believe a woman can take on the title of mother until she physically feels the difference when the baby is born and when she has that baby to care for 
** just my opinion, I wouldn't consider myself a mother yet.. not until he is here in november.. just a mommy in the making
