Non-vaxxed safety?

Question

Help! One of my dear friends doesn't believe in vaccinating her kids. I'm about to have a new baby in 7 weeks and she really wants to be involved and have her kids involved as well. I don't want to post this and start a debate about vaxxing and not vaxxing. I just want to know if anyone has had any similar experience and if it's safe to have my newborn around her non-vaxxed kids??

I would keep them away until your baby is FULLY vaccinated. You can respect her decisions but she also then needs to respect your decision to keep your baby safe

There is no way I'd let my baby be around unvaccinated children. Many areas have been seeing a lot of pertussis. I was a PICU nurse for years and have seen babies die from pertussis. There's no way I'd risk that.

It's your choice entirely.  If you feel uncomfortable having her children around, then that's your call.

Having a vaccination doesn't mean a kid automatically is immune, just as not having a vaccination doesn't mean you're a walking disease pool.  I'd personally be more concerned about recently vaccinated children that have received vaccines made.with weakened but live forms of the virus they are vaxing against bc they ARE contagious.

That's your baby.  Woukd wait until the baby has ALL vaccinations before allowing the baby around her/kids. I'm sorry, but I agree with what someone said above... You respect her decisions, but she also needs to respect yours. I would never risk my baby just to savor her feelings. There's no question.

It's nice that she wants to be involved but she should respect not bringing her kids around your newborn. You have obviously respected her choice to not vaccinate and she should return the courtesy. And if she tried to say the  exposure will boost your baby's immunity, just smile and say you'd rather not risk anything.

I personally wouldn't risk it. It's her choice not to vaccinate her children but you have to do whatever necessary to protect your child. That's means no contact until your child receives vaccines. Hopefully she respects your choice and it doesn't hurt your friendship.

No it is not because they can carry whooping cough, measles, chickenpox etc. I wouldn't take the risk because these diseases can be very severe especially to newborns and small infants.

Just want to say that like any other sickness, a cold, etc. unless unvaccinated people actually have a disease they can't spread it. She may not want your newly vaxxed baby around her kiddos due to shedding. Some of the more recent measles cases were actually vaxxed kids that had it spread from recently vaxxed children that were "shedding". We all do what we feel is best for our children so if you feel this is what's best for your baby then  go with it.

I personally wouldn't until my child got their vaccines because you never know what they've come into with.
