Claiming newborn on income tax?

Okay.. So it's been brought up lately that my SO and I will be able to claim our new baby on income tax for 2016. Our baby is due the end of December(right around Christmas) but how does that work? Technically we haven't supported the baby all year long so will we still get a full amount for it or will be a small amount because it was born at the end of the year?

Yup. As long as they come in 2016, you mark "they lived with me all 12 months".
You have expenses on your baby this year...clothes, diapers, car seat etc.

As long as the baby is born in 2016 you can claim them on your taxes and get a huge tax deduction. I'm due the 30th and hoping baby comes on time! Plus don't want to have to pay another insurance deductible

Your baby can be born on 12/31 at 11:59pm and you can still claim them for the entire year's tax refund. 🙌🏽🙌🏽

I'm due the 26th and am really hoping baby shows up on time too! Not only for the tax break but I also don't want my insurance deductible to start over either! We need this baby to be born Dutch from the very get go 😂

My birthday is January 3rd & my dad spent the New Year's Eve before I was born blowing noise makers at my mom's belly trying to get me to come out to get that tax credit. I was stubborn though...17 days overdue stubborn.

As long as they are born in 2016 you can claim them. My First was born December 23rd

My son was born on 12/19/2011, as long as the baby is born before 2017 yes you can claim him/her. No need to keep receipts or prove that the baby was born, if you have his or her social security number then that's all the proof you need to show that the baby was born in 2016.
