My LONG CRAZY birth story!
It's been 3 weeks since my daughters been born and I'm finally ready to tell my birth story. I was due July 1st. But with a very complicated pregnancy since the beginning, my daughter was most likely going to be born early (threatened miscarriages, heavy bleeding throughout pregnancy, gestational diabetes, preterm labor at 24 weeks) I woke up at around 2 am June 12th with mild like cramps, they weren't bad enough where I couldn't sleep. Some water helped ease them. Well at about 5 am they started to get worse so since I had been going to nst 2 times a week I figured I'd go into triage and get checked just to make sure baby girl was doing okay. They told me I was 2 centimeters dialated, I was having constant contractions but Babygirl was still very high up but she was just fine so they sent me home. I labored at home mostly all day the contractions started to slow down at about 7 pm so I took a nice warm bath and fell asleep at about 8:30 pm. I woke up at 4 am the next morning, June 13th with excruciating contractions. They times at about 2-3 minutes apart. They were so bad I told myself I couldn't labor at home anymore I needed to know if I dialated any further. So once again me and my mother got in the car, this time with all our bags packed and headed to the hospital. They set me up in triage once again, this time my contractions were so bad I couldn't lay still enough for the nurses to moniter me, I felt so bad for yelling at the poor nurses who were just doing their job lol finally someone came into check me and still NOTHING. I wasn't dialated any further! But my contractions were 2 minutes apart lasting 1 minute. I was in the most pain I had ever been in my life. I was screaming to the top of my lungs begging my doctor to admit me. He checked me 30 minutes later just to be sure I was still only 2 1/2 cms, I was yelling like he was hurting me because I was having a contraction while he was checking me when he just said "admit her, and give her an epidural." I was so damn happy because I know this NEVER happens. I was finally admitted at about 10 am. Got my epidural and was feeling amazing!!!! And I was finally dilating, slowly but surely. At about 4 pm they decided to give me pitocin to speed things up because my water was broken but I was dilating like I should be(I was 4 cms) Which I was fine with because I couldn't feel a thing ! My epidural wore off at about 10pm that night and let me tell y'all. OMG. My contractions were off the chart and I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin. My contractions were coming every minute and I was not getting anytime to rest, and baby girls heart rate was getting a little weird. So they gave me a different type of pain relief since they couldn't give me anymore epidural. And it helped slow down my contractions. At about 145 am June 14th it wore off and there went my contractions coming super consistent and baby girls heart rate getting scary again, but this time my contractions were only in one part of my stomach. I told the nurse I felt A LOT of pressure The nurse finally checked me and I was a 10! Hallelujah!!! But baby girl was still very high, so they told me I couldn't try pushing and to hold it! What??????! There was no way I could, But I held off for about 10 minutes until I told the nurse I can't wait anymore, she wants to come NOW! So she told me to do some practice pushes. But I couldn't stop pushing because my contractions were literally lingering and not stoping at all! I was pushing for about 7 minutes, the nurse yells "get the doctor In here NOW, the baby's heart rate is dropping and she's crowing" I held off pushing as hard as I could while the doctor literally took FOREVER, and when he did get there he took so long to get suited and ready. When he finally told me I could push I gave one big push and out she came, this beautiful mixed tiny baby of mine. I couldn't believe it, I couldn't stop bawling, and kept asking the nurses why wasn't she crying. "Why isn't she crying!!!" A lot was happening, my mom was silent, the nurses quickly took my daughter to the incubator, and out come a bunch of NICU nurses and a doctor rushing into the room to assist. didn't answer any of my questions, all they were focused on was getting my daughter to breath. Next thing I know I hear a little cry. It wasn't a long cry but it was there. The NICU doctor told me we are going to take very good care of your baby and took her away to the NICU. I was in so much shock. Laying there while another doctor stitched me up, and my daughter out of sight, I never even got to see her face, didn't get to hold her. They transferred me to my room I would be staying in for the next couple days when the doctor from the NICU finally came in (2 hours later) explaining my daughter had fluid in her lungs, low oxygen, and the way she was positioned in my stomach, her leg got stuck up by her head and had a deformed left leg and needed X-rays and an orthopedic consult to see if it was going to stay that way. I didn't know how to feel, my baby wasn't okay and I felt like it was all my fault. Finally seeing her face (3 hours after giving birth to her) was the most amazing feeling ever, even with all the tubes and moniteres hooked up to her. She was mine and I was so In love. I was discharged the next day and leaving her in the NICU and not being able to take her home with me was the hardest most depressing thing I've ever had to go through, I cried myself to sleep every single night. Then finally on June 18th I was able to take her home, her leg had healed on its own, her breathing had resolved itself, it's like God was by my side the whole time. She is the best thing that has came into my life and I can't imagine my life without her. At 37 weeks and 4 days, Jordan Elizabeth Finnell. Born June 14th at 2:16 Am. Weighing 6 pounds 5 ounces 19 inches long. My fighter, my best friend, the love of my life... Here's her pic when she was born that my mom did not want to show me because she didn't want me to panic at her leg and her now at 3 weeks and 3 days 💗
