Has anyone tried the Evening primrose oil capsules orally or vaginally? Did it work? Please comment on whether it was successful or not

I been reading that these evening primrose oil capsules help ripen and soften your cervix and possibly put you into labor i want to know if it has worked for anyone, how long did it take how often did you use them I'm 40 weeks 1 day and I'm so miserable and ready to have my princess but she is being so stubborn. No negative comments please

My midwife told me it takes a few weeks for them to work. They don't start labour, just ripen/soften the cervix to allow it to come faster. I started at 35 weeks and at 38, they praised me on how soft my cervix had gotten and said most ftm's aren't that soft yet. The midwifes also use them as lube when they do their stretch and sweeps, which is pretty cool! It doesn't hurt to try, but I wouldn't expect a miracle at that point from it. I would try more vigorous methods at 40+ weeks because you need the oxytocin now, and not necessarily cervical ripening. Black/blue cohosh, nipple stimulation, sex with orgasm, or acupuncture/pressure.

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and my ob told me today that I should start taking them vaginally at night and orally in the morning. She said it softens the cervix and sometimes starts labour but I haven't tried it yet

I've been using them since the beginning of week 37 vaginally. I do a capsule of EPO and a capsule of coconut oil. I was high and very hard at my 36 weeks appointment. By week 37 she was in position, still a little high, but my cervix is softening. I do not know if that's from nature and its course, or if the EPO is helping, but it doesn't hurt and it's not too expensive, so I'm sure it's worth a try.

I'm taking 2 orally and 2 vaginally at night. Use a tampon applicator to get them in there good. I dunno if it's done anything or not but it's worth a try. My midwife suggested it. I figure it can't hurt at this point. Also been drink red raspberry leaf tea.

It does I have been taking them orally for a week and when I went to the doc I had only just begun taking them vaginally and I went from a 1.5 to a 3. Continued To do both orally and vaginally can't wait to see what I'm at next Tuesday. Or God willing go into labor before then..

I think it will only help if your body is already progressing but not a moment sooner. I took them for weeks prior to having cervical checks thinking that a head start would be good. I also drank raspberry tea but the past two checks have showed that I am hard and closed. I think my son has dropped q little since Tuesday so I'm hoping I will get some news that I have progressed at my next appountment. I could only imagine how ready you are! I hope it helps for you!

Nope. Not for me!! I am 39 weeks and I've been taking them since 34 weeks. Orally and vaginally. I haven't gotten past 1cm since 3 weeks ago): so no success story here
