Confused as hell. Please help.

So my boyfriend and I have been together about a year. We get along very well and don't fight often. We have little disagreements more than anything. Earlier this summer he brought up our future and didn't know what he saw. We were rough for a week but things then got a little better. He recently brought up the military the other day and said he didn't want to drag me down that path since he wouldn't be around and things like that. He hasn't decided and we are taking things day by day but things have been off lately. He is busy working a lot which I understand but he rarely puts in an effort to even communicate most days and we hangout maybe once a week if we are lucky. When we hang out he's kind of distant but still kind of shows he cares. He said he wanted to lay off the sex for now but that's not normal with him and I feel like we need to connect at that level right now. He still says he loves me and wants to be with me and things like that. He's the kind of person that if he didn't want to be with me he would stop. I just need some advice on what to do and how to maybe get him to put a little more effort in and try to push towards our normal fun loving times we normally have together. Please help.
