Should I tell my boyfriend about my past abortion?

I recently got serious with my boyfriend, we've taken a lot of new steps with our relationship. He's really amazing and sweet and I've never been so happy! However, it's been bugging me a little lately that were open about everything but the only thing I haven't come clean about is when I was 18 I had an abortion. My body wasn't ready and I sure as hell wasn't. The whole thing was a big, emotional mess for me. My friends have told me I shouldn't feel bad for not telling him, but I feel like that's such a big part of my life. What should I do?

Let's hold up a mirror for a moment. If HE had a big secret, wouldn't you want him to be honest, authentic, and vulnerable with you?

I know it's scary. The fear of being rejected can be tough to swallow. In the long-term, honesty is always best. If your choice upsets him, perhaps he isn't the man you deserve. Then again, you may be pleasantly surprised if he steps up to honor your decision.

It's in the past and it has nothing to do with your relationship  now I would just get overit but if it feels like your not going to be able to be in the relationship without telling everything which I doubt he really told you everything about himself the tell him If he judges you harshly which I don't think he will but if he does then it might not be the right partner

Tell him. Let him know that you have something to tell him that's hard to talk about. If your relationship is getting serious and you feel the need to be open about your past, then it needs to be done in a way that shows  your being honest and vulnerable. I've been in your shoes. If he's a good guy he will be understanding.

It's your personal past. My other half doesn't know 100% of my past, however I don't keep secrets.  It's up to you whether you tell him. I don't see the harm in not telling him, or telling him.

But for you feel you need to then just tell him, it's not like he can go back and change what happened.
